When ya head over the Rockies--get ready not sure if you can.Day tripped out of  Willow Creak Campground  pass Granby and Grand Lakes  huge reservoirs --so you climb and climb-- no way to do this with the house on wheels --so the vertigo kicks in and now driving in the middle of a two lane road  Wooweee --geez the right side is so close and no guard rails and you can see China below --so 30 miles up and 30 down to Estes Park --great town --had lunch and headed back over the big cliff --mim drove over the big one the second time whew thanks--when ya get up there you get  whiffty --surprised  folks dont drive right off from the lack of  O'2.  So look beyond that event and now is one of the best mountain views of the Rockies.Ya know thanks to the the folks who had the visions to put roads over these spectacular mountains--we continue to talk about how did they think of ever making it happen--onward to the Great Tetons

Leadville Colorado another great city in Colorado-laundry done and more green chile soup--gonna make that one at home.We are loving this state been here over 3 weeks Moved up to Granby to hug up with neighbor young Sarah from Lebanon she found her love of  the country here and now running a horse ranch - ya cannot amagine 150 horses and all the saddles and stuff--in all the the ranches she works  for a guy who has 1700 horses -let um go in the winter and round them up in the spring. So we went out on the trail with Shadow my guy  had the knack to grab a grass on the go  and Mim had Beamer-- Sophia our rangler from Indiana 19 years old had it all together -my horse was a runner wish he would but ---Sophia kept him behind --darn I want to run .So these horses are so well trained if you pull back on the reins to stop them -and continue they keep going back --its like putting your car in revevse - so mim says how do i stop him after 100 feet  going backwards-- let go!!and the brakes come on. Will admit gonna ow a horse before a dog---Went over the Rockies today that is another scary and amazing hunk of our country. loving it all

Crawling north in Colorado --now between Salida and Beuna Vista in the Arkansas River Recreation Area Ruby Mtn campground--no facilities --fine got plenty on board--can go 3 days with water and stuff. So lots of river rafting on the Arkansas river--so we ask any spots in the river for touring Kayaks--sure put in at Jonhson landing and float down to the campsite Class 1 and 2, well up in Maine the Saco is class 1 a bit of two over Walker Falls.Got the camp host Tom to put us in and take our truck back to the take out --see ya Tom see ya in a couple of hours 7 mile trip .Shoved off and not too  bad manuevered around some big rocks--no problem this is exciting and great challenge-- for that half mile --did you ever see the movie River Wild --well the next mile for a couple of non white water yakers it was  close --waiting for the Gautlet--so after tipping over hitting rocks and yaks filling up with water several times--we were exhausted --luckly the water was only waist deep--not knowing what to do -get out climb the bank look for help--our savior came a rubber rafting guide Corey with 3 folks in it recognized the problem balanced Mims yak in the back and she got into the raft I followed.Another mile down I came sideways on a boulder and over I went in a second--lost my paddle those guys were ahead and saw it go by.So grabbed Mims paddle never found mine and tucked myself right behind that raft for the rest of the trip...Geez what the heck Gonna stick to ponds We promised to stop talking about it to prevent nite mares
Another day here more fishing --and moving on the Leadville highest town in the Rockies --then on to Granby for some horseback riding with our NH neighbor, Sarah Hubbell.

Made it from Ouray to Black Canyon Nat Park all flat roads until the canyon road Up and up 20 MPH gotta get more engine for Colorado --stayed up here in the high dessert for 3 nites --a mule deer show up every day--one of them hung out with a neighbor camper dog--very tame and protected in the park. Met a couple across from Sudbury Mass, Louise and Cliff Card--he was the chief at many schools-so at 82 they hiked down the bottom of the Grand Canyon and back up the next day --these guys are making the bucket list an adventure-- and refuse to get old-- reminded him to get those bearings on his wheels checked I could make a buck doing that for folks but would always do it for the fun of it-love meeting folks like that.So the Black Canyon is another beautiful carved out piece 48 miles long, billions of years ago or more--how do they figure that out?  Headed to Pine Creek the next day for a boat ride up the canyon  big party barge met lots of great folks and info where to go next.  Big projects done  long time ago to dam up the spring run off water to hold it back for the lower states in the summer for irrigation and drinking--Gotta say Colorado has so much diversity first up in the mountains waking up at 38 then back down at 60 in the high dessert. We could live here as so many other places. Left Durango early this morning for Ouray ---gotta get over those mountains when the air is cool --so thin engine over heats  so we crawled up to Molas Pass 20MPH -glad I was driving focussing on the curves and center line --mim was looking over the cliffs without guard rails -but then looking forward the mountain views and vistas  were the best,Took pictures but ya gotta be here to suck this in.So down the peak from 10900 ft to the next pass 1st gear all the way pulling over letting the bikers pass waving saying thanks .Got to Silverton old mining town still looks like it-- drove thru it love it -now with a ski mt Now back up at 20 mph up the Million dollar road because they buried gold underneath-- to Red mt and Black bear pass. Holy Shit you are driving on a ledge --the guy Otto Moses had the bucks who had the vision back in  the late 1800 dropped guys down on ropes to blast away the ledges to make a road .Even had a waterfall pass under the road and that is where you paid the toll back then for using the road 5 bucks. We cannot say enough about this ride across this piece of beautiful world except Mim will drive and I will wear diapers Made it into Ouray get the green chile soup-- great old mining town staying at the Amphitheather Nat Forest tucked in just what it says.Live for the moment
